MEMPHIS, Tenn., Oct. 04, 2011 – The new Homac® Temporary Service Adapter System from Thomas & Betts provides fast and convenient temporary residential electrical service, which enables utility technicians to perform repairs with minimal disruption to the customer’s power supply. The system temporarily maintains the flow of power while preventing backfeed of power to the faulted cable. It supports 75-amp and 100-amp current ratings.
The Homac® Temporary Service Adapter System’s load-side adapter mounts between the meter and meter socket of the house being serviced, while the source-side adapter mounts between the meter and meter socket of a nearby house.
“Maintaining safe and reliable service for customers is a top priority for utilities,” said Mike Cawood, product manager for Thomas & Betts. “By providing emergency electrical service, the Homac® Temporary Service Adapter System enables repairs to benefit customers and utilities. Now, utilities have the flexibility to schedule work during business hours, rather than only during off hours, and customers are not inconvenienced by a loss of power. Uninterrupted electrical service also keeps the meter running and continues to generate revenue for the utility company while repairs are being made.”
Alternative source-side adapters are available for direct connection to padmount or overhead transformers. Preassembled connections make installations quick and easy. Once repairs are completed, the Homac® Temporary Service Adapter System disconnects easily.
